There’s a full course of fun at mealtimes throughout the cruise at elaborately themed restaurants with distinctly Disney touches that combine with world-class cuisine to please the palate and satisfy all the senses.
Main Dining
With Disney, guests expect the unexpected, so Disney Cruise Line developed an innovative rotational dining concept that remains exclusive to the Disney fleet. While guests enjoy different restaurants for dinner each night, their servers accompany them. Thus, guests enjoy a variety of dining experiences with friendly, familiar, personalized service.
Animator’s Palate
Animator’s Palate aboard the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream is a re-imagined version of the signature Disney Cruise Line restaurant that brings the magic of Disney animation into the dining room with wall-to-wall whimsy inspired by classic animator’s studios.
Design highlights include pillars throughout the restaurant fashioned like huge pencils and brushes, character sketches, maquettes (three-dimensional character models), film strips and other tools of the animation trade. Scenes and characters from popular Disney and Disney•Pixar films adorn the walls.
Rotational dining brings guests to Animator’s Palate twice during the seven-night cruise on the Disney Fantasy, with two different dinner experiences to captivate and delight the entire family.
‘Undersea Magic’
One evening on both the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream, after diners are seated, the restaurant goes through a transformation: Guests are magically transported to a shimmering undersea world where views of a coral reef environment are all around them, setting the stage for a visit from Crush, the sea turtle from the Disney•Pixar film “Finding Nemo.”
Enter Crush, a most-excellent ambassador of the oceans and seas. The animated character swims from window to window, “working the room,” engaging guests in real-time conversation about his life and world.
For “Undersea Magic” evening, the menu features a choice of appetizers such as sesame-flavored rock shrimp and caramelized onion cheesecake, or smoked salmon tartare. Entrées range from ginger-teriyaki tenderloin to a trio of veal, or wild mushroom risotto and porcini twist. Sweet endings include a cookies and cream sundae, crunchy walnut cake and a no-sugar-added lemon mousse.
‘Animation Magic’
Another evening on the Disney Fantasy, as guests are seated at their tables, they are invited to draw a character of their own using a simple template on their placemat. Then, just before dinner, house lights dim and a sprinkling of pixie dust illuminates the room.
On several large monitors around the room, Mickey Mouse appears, places the Sorcerer’s hat upon his head and begins the show. He invites guests to sit back, relax and enjoy a taste of animation as a montage of memorable food-themed moments from Disney and Disney•Pixar films is shown, set to the tune “Be Our Guest.” After the number is complete, guests’ drawings are whisked off to Mickey Mouse, who is conjuring a magical final act.
After dinner, Mickey returns for the exciting finale. With a musical crescendo, he works his magic and conjures the guests’ drawings—now fully animated and brought to life—into the onscreen action.
A parade starts as Mickey leads the guests’ drawings in a march across the screens around the dining room. The animation becomes more elaborate as the drawings step into scenes from beloved Disney movies, skipping and dancing side-by-side with characters such as Mickey Mouse, Jiminy Cricket, Cinderella and Snow White.
At the conclusion of the show, Mickey returns to say “so long” while credits roll on screen showing each guest’s name listed as a guest animator. To commemorate the experience, guests’ drawings are returned to them … with an added touch: a golden seal proclaiming them an Official Disney Animator.
On “Animation Magic” evening, the creative cuisine matches the character of the restaurant, with both cold and hot appetizer samplers that give diners a half-dozen delicious small bites to start the meal, such as “Corn Three Ways” with popcorn soup, corn salsa and chicken coated with garlic-cheese popcorn. Entrees include roasted red snapper, filet of beef Wellington and garlic and rosemary-marinated lamb sirloin. Dessert follows, another trio of small tastes.
Wines from California and the Pacific Rim complement both menus.
Royal Court/Royal Palace
Royal Court (Disney Fantasy) and Royal Palace (Disney Dream), inspired by Disney classics “Cinderella,” “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “Sleeping Beauty,” have the lavish surroundings of an elegant dining room fit for a grand palace. The décor features ornate details and custom furnishings and fixtures that incorporate iconic symbols from the films: glass slippers, apples, roses and tiaras.
At Royal Court, custom lighting fixtures modeled after Cinderella’s coach adorn the room. With careful attention to detail, the Royal Court’s chandeliers, chair backs and columns with marble bases and fluted tops are fashioned after those seen in Beauty and the Beast. Wall sconces, decorative patterns, throne-style chairs and the circular floor plan are recreated from Cinderella.
Royal Palace décor includes a hand-blown centerpiece chandelier with glass slippers accents, luxurious custom carpeting with a pattern of flourishing roses, and ornate marble floors—including a “family crest” of inlay featuring a tiara crown, glass slipper, rose and apple. The Royal Palace’s circular floor plan, fluted columns and iron railing work are recreated from the “Cinderella” ballroom scene. Wall sconces are fashioned after those in “Beauty and the Beast.”
Hand-crafted mosaic tile murals (Disney Fantasy) and hand-painted portraits (Disney Dream) of the princesses—Cinderella, Snow White, Belle and Sleeping Beauty (Aurora) —and their princes grace the far wall.
At Royal Court and Royal Palace, the feast isn’t just for the eyes. Guests enjoy world-class continental French cuisine. The menu includes dishes fit for a monarch, including lobster and jumbo shrimp, escargot, Dijon-roasted rack of lamb and beef tenderloin with garlic shrimp. The wine list features an excellent selection of Old World wines. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at this restaurant.
Enchanted Garden
Enchanted Garden is a whimsical, casual restaurant inspired by the gardens of Versailles that features a dining environment that transforms from day to night.
Enchanted Garden emulates an elegant conservatory in the rolling hills of France. There are white trellises, spring-green arches and original artwork depicting lush landscapes. Custom glass “flower” light fixtures are above. Light posts line the restaurant’s center promenade. A terrace fountain with cascading water rises seven feet tall, with a fanciful cherub Mickey Mouse statue at its pinnacle.
At breakfast and lunch, the restaurant is bright with the light of a blue-sky day. In the evening, the illuminated ceiling transitions into a nighttime constellation of twinkling stars. The light-fixture flowers “bloom” and become infused with color, wall sconces open to become beautiful folding fans and the centerpiece fountain is basked in shimmering light.
The cuisine matches the crisp and airy feel of the restaurant with a seasonal menu featuring market-fresh ingredients. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet-style and dinner is a full-service, plated affair with specialties such as slow-roasted prime rib, pan-seared sea bass, oven-baked salmon and roasted wild boar tenderloin. A scrumptious selection of desserts includes a selection of gelatos during the day and a Grand Marnier soufflé, Tahitian vanilla crème brûlèe and no-sugar-added mango cheesecake for dinner.
Casual Dining
Cabanas
Cabanas food court is a free-flow casual dining restaurant featuring a variety of food and beverage stations. Inspired by California beaches and boardwalks with uniquely Disney touches, Cabanas offers indoor and outdoor dining on Deck 11 aft. Ocean views are all around.
Across the beach-themed dining room, tables are sheltered under palm trees and beach umbrellas. Colorful surfboards and teak Adirondack chairs add to the sunny seaside décor. Disney details also decorate the area, including a familiar flock of seagulls from the Disney•Pixar animated film “Finding Nemo.” Two hand-crafted mosaic tile walls—each more than 25 feet in length—depict a whimsical underwater scene from “Finding Nemo.”
Guests can partake in an eclectic array of cuisine served from 16 specialized food stations, each providing delicious offerings. Freshly prepared dishes include American classics, comfort foods such as pizza and pasta, grilled specialties, stir-fry, savory soups, fresh salads and sushi. To satisfy a sweet tooth, another station showcases an artful display of decadent desserts. Each morning, Cabanas features numerous flavorful ways to start the day with assorted breakfast foods and made-to-order omelets.
In the evenings, the restaurant transforms into a table-service casual dining experience, where dinner entrees are cooked to order.
Flo’s Café
Guests looking for a quick bite to eat can visit Flo’s Café, located near Donald’s Pool on Deck 11. Themed to popular characters from the Disney•Pixar film “Cars” —Luigi’s Pizza, Tow Mater’s Grill and Fillmore’s Favorites—this quick-service option serves snacks such as burgers, chicken tenders, pizza, fresh fruit, salads and sandwich wraps.
Eye Scream Treats, Frozone Treats
Frozen sweet treats are available from two quick-service venues conveniently located near Donald’s Pool on Deck 11. Frozone Treats—named after the ice-creating superhero in the Disney•Pixar movie “The Incredibles”—mixes delicious fruit smoothies. Eye Scream Treats—inspired by the friendly, one-eyed monster Mike Wazowski from the Disney•Pixar animated feature “Monsters, Inc.”—offers soft-serve ice cream with plenty of favorite sundae toppings.
Sweet on You
Guests can enjoy the Sweet on You ice cream shop on Deck 11 aboard the Disney Fantasy. This sweet shop is themed after the iconic Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts, and designed with charming art details. Sweet on You features hand-crafted gelato and ice-cream, specialty sundaes, homemade chocolates, truffles and a large selection of candy for purchase, all just steps away from the family pool.
Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats
Handmade gelato and ice cream, an assortment of candy, and delectable novelty treats are available for purchase on Deck 11 aboard the Disney Dream at Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats—inspired by the whimsical candy land of the Sugar Rush race car game in “Wreck-It Ralph.” New flavors of gelato and ice cream are offered daily, along with a wide selection of toppings.
Signature sundaes include Vanellope Von Schweetz’s Race Kart Sundae, served in Vanellope’s very own race car, and Ralph’s Family Challenge Sundae, presented in a trophy cup and made with eight heaping scoops of ice cream, meant for the entire family to share.
